Ten children through to Eggs Factor 2009 Grand Final

Ten children from across the UK have beaten off hundreds of entrants to gain a place at next week’s grand final of the Eggs Factor 2009 cooking competition, organised by Lion eggs.

Aged between 7-11, the kids were judged on the taste and originality of their signature dish by a local celebrity chef. Each kid designed their dish for a character or celebrity, such as Leeds heat winner Meg Ferguson (pictured) and her dish, Wallace and Gromelette, for the aminated characters Wallace and Gromit.

The the final is being held at L’atelier des Chefs in central London on 6 July. Children’s food expert Annabel Karmel will judge the final, to be hosted by X Factor finalists Same Difference.

Each regional finalist won an Eggs Factor trophy and a Nintendo DSi console along with a cooking game.

The national Eggs Factor champion will win a culinary weekend in London, including an afternoon at the research kitchen where Annabel Karmel develops her recipes. The winning recipe will also be published in one of Karmel’s forthcoming cookbooks.
