Farming fell under the TV spotlight last night with two programmes which aimed to raise questions about agricultural production systems and the slaughter process - and we want your verdict.

Hugh's Chicken Run, presented by chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and on Channel 4 at 9pm, claimed to explore "the horrors of intensive chicken farming."

The programme was the first of three hour-long specials which are being shown on consecutive nights as part of Channel 4's The Big Food Fight.

Meanwhile, at 10.30pm the controversial Kill, it Cook it, Eat it returned for the start of a new four-show run on BBC3.

This aim of the programme is to uncover the facts about how meat is prepared in the UK - this time focusing on the slaughter of young animals such as milk-fed lambs, veal and suckling pigs.

The programme asks how these animals are raised, where they come from, how they're killed and gutted and how young is too young when it comes to eating baby animals?

On Friday (11 Jan) Chef Jamie Oliver will also front a programme called Jamies' Fowl Dinners which aims to highlight the differences between living conditions for 'standard' broiler and battery chickens, 'enriched cages', barn, free range and organic birds.

The return of Kill it, Cook it, Eat it has already led to a lively discussion on the FWiSpace forums. Why not share your views, hopes and fears if you watched either of the two programmes?
