Farmers Weekly's quest to find the biggest bullock in Britain continues...

Just prior to Christmas, FW reader Richard Green of Mitchell Park Farm, Petworth, West Sussex, asked whether his bullock was the largest given that it weighed in at 1460kg last time it was on the scales 18 months ago.

But now we've found bigger - although admittedly the animal in question is no longer alive.

Dennis Wood from Cotgrave in Nottinghamshire has written to tell us that in the 1940s his father owned an animal known as "Two Ton Tony" which they used to take to shows and charge people to view.

The beast, which was a pure shorthorn from Waterford in Ireland, measured 17ft from nose to tail and was over 6ft in height. He toured with "Tiny Tot" a small heifer owned by Harry Wood from Cotgrave, Nottinghamshire.

Two Ton Tony was apparently weighed on a corn merchant's scales. Assuming they were accurate, this translates to a metric weight of 1814kg.

So was this the biggest bullock in Britain? Or do you know differently? Tell us on the forums?
