A farmer’s son has attracted media interest by proposing to his girlfriend with a message etched into a field in giant letters.

James Andrews flew with his girlfriend Floss Allen over his father's farm in Rockland St Mary.

Written across a 20-acre stubble field below were the words "Floss marry me?".

The words were carved into the field by James’ father John Andrews who apparently marked out the message in a Land Rover, while a tractor followed behind with a cultivator.

The story - which has a happy ending as she did say “yes” - has been picked up by the Daily Mail, the BBC and regional papers.
