Sniffing out a bargain...
One man and his best friend inspect the tractors and machinery on offer at a dispersal last week for Michael Coney of Belton Grange, Grantham, Lincs, who has sold his farm. JH Walter auctioneer Rob Ward described trade as fantastic, with many lots exceeding expectations. "The better weather helped, and there was an enormous crowd of mainly private buyers. Although we"re starting to see the way forward now, CAP reform has frustrated many land transactions and there have been few farm sales." The 1987 New Holland 8070 combine sold for 15,250, the New Holland TM150 made 21,200, and the JCB Fastrac 1115s realised 13,800.
