A stunning slice of Powys countryside is up for grabs from Builth Wells agent Chester Master.

The 428 acres of permanent pasture and 178 acres of forestry near Knighton belong to the larger Gwernaffel Estate, but are being marketed as the Pilleth Estate, said the firm's Gareth Sneade.

"The land includes the site of the historic Battle of Pilleth where Owain Glyndwr overcame Edmund Mortimer in 1402."

Owned by Sir Robert Greenprice, the land is being sold as part of a downsizing exercise, said Mr Sneade.

It has been split into 10 lots, but the preference was to sell as a whole for around £1.4m, he added. Individual blocks of pastureland would be priced at £2500-£3500/acre, with the woodland at £1500/acre.

There are the remains of an old farmhouse on the estate, and there could be a possibility that planners might grant consent for a replacement or agriculturally tied house, said Mr Sneade.
