The British Pig Executive has announced Richard Martin has joined its board.

Representing the British Meat Processors Association, Mr Martin is a regional director with Grampian.

He is responsible for the Cookstown slaughter plant in Northern Ireland and the Case bacon processing plant in Somerset.

Mr Martin is the third generation of his family to be involved in pig processing.

“I am looking forward to using my experience to help the British pig industry,” he said.

Mr Martin takes over from Neil Hammond who served on BPEX for two years.
