FWi blogger and Farmers Weekly columnist Matthew Naylor swapped his Lincolnshire farm for central London on Tuesday when he was joined by hobbits to plant daffodil bulbs for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Actors from the west end musical Lord of The Rings and local school children helped begin the planting of 60,000 bulbs donated by Matthew and his father Nev in Hyde Park. Below are some photos of the hobbits in action.
The flowering of the bulbs will coincide with the charity’s 60th anniversary, as well as marking the 60th year since Matthew’s grandfather began the family business.
You can sponsor a bulb in remembrance of someone by visiting the Just Giving website. You can also read more about the day on Matthew’s blog, The Longer View, later this week.
