Working versions of Landini's new telehandler-tractor hybrid have landed on UK shores.
Claiming to combine the advantages of a telescopic loader with the power and features of a medium sized tractor, the Powerlift has a three-point linkage on the tail and packs an impressive 150hp punch.
The seat, pedals and steering wheel can be turned around allowing the user to drive in either direction.
With a telescopic boom and hydrostatic drive, it can be used for the traditional roles of either telehandler or tractor, says Landini. The Italian firm expects the Powerlift to be used on a range of farms due to its versatility.
"In some cases it could simply take the place of a conventional high-capacity handler, in others it could replace a mid-range tractor and telehandler," says Adrian Winnet, Landini's UK sales manager.
Designed and built in-house at the Laverda combine factory, with the exception of the out-sourced Sisu engine, the Powerlift is Landini's first attempt at a telescopic loader.
Its 3.5t lift capacity and 8.6m lift height position it firmly at the top end of the agricultural telehandler market. Power is provided by a 4.4-litre Sisu 4-cylinder engine.
Hydrostatic drive coupled to a three-speed transmission with "cruise control" gives Powerlift operators a range of variable working speeds.
The three-section telescopic boom keeps the machine short while maintaining a decent reach. 100-litre/min hydraulics are claimed to enable fast cycle times.
At the rear of the machine the Cat 2 linkage gives a lift of 4500kg with electric draft control. It can tow 9t and there is 110hp available for the mechanically-driven 540/1000rpm pto. Two spool-valves come as standard.
There are three different drive modes for the Powerlift - Telehandler, Tractor and Transport.0
Selecting "Telehandler" sets the machine to work as a normal loader.
"Tractor" mode disengages the boom but activates the linkage, pto and cruise control.
The "Transport" setting isolates the boom allowing it to travel at up to 40kph.
The Powerlift comes with the usual telehandler features as standard reverse fan-drive, air-conditioning, selectable two-wheel, four-wheel and crab steering.
Aimed specifically at the agricultural market, it will also be available in the red livery of sister company McCormick with the only differences being the colour and badge.
As yet only one model is available, but a straightforward telehandler without rear linkage is due for release later this year with a smaller 120hp engine.
