Jonathan Tipples was on combining wheat at Reed Court Farm, Marden, Kent, today (20 August), and was pleased with yields so far.
The 93ha (230 acres) of Einstein cut so far had yielded about 8.6t/ha (3.5t/acre) across first and second wheats, which was very pleasing, he said. “We just keep nibbling away at it.”
Some flat patches had started to sprout, but the remainder was still looking alright. “What the quality will be like by next week I don’t know.”
Mr Tipples had finished his Expert oilseed rape, which was disappointing at just 3t/ha (1.25t/acre)
