Autumn primestock shows are an important part of the farming calendar and our event, Countryside Live, will have a particular poignancy this year with the return of the show's heart - the livestock classes.

Last year, we were hugely disappointed that foot-and-mouth restrictions meant their cancellation, but on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 October at the Great Yorkshire Showground the cattle and sheep classes will once again provide the event's focus. And this year the scope is broadened with pig demonstrations and an equine section.

Countryside Live has built up a reputation as a show with quality stock and as an important platform to promote the industry to a public which is increasingly interested in where their food comes from. We're also delighted to have the National Federation of Young Farmers' involved again this year.

Organised by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, the event has a relatively short history in comparison with its big brother, the Great Yorkshire Show, but like the Great Yorkshire, it is aimed at the farmer, but also seeks to encourage the general public to have a greater understanding and appreciation of our industry.
