Despite machinery manufacturers' switch towards
specialist, sector-specific events, the
Great Yorkshire
Show is still regarded as a key event for many major farm kit
firms.
Sticking true to its roots has always been important to
York-based machinery manufacturer Sumo, and displaying its
market-leading cultivation equipment at the Great Yorkshire is a
major event in the company's show calendar.
Sumo designs and manufactures all its products at its factory in
Melbourne, just outside York, and managing director Shaun Wealleans
was born and bred in Yorkshire and is committed to supporting
businesses and events in the region. "This will be our second year
at the Great Yorkshire. It's a valuable event for manufacturers and
it shows the public how big farm machinery can actually be. It is
fantastic event with a good atmosphere and hopefully other
manufacturers will see the potential that exists."
This year, Sumo's market-leading Trio and the Versadrill, the
latest addition to the company's catalogue, will be on display.
This year's show also welcomes Addfield Environmental Systems,
which will be exhibiting for the first time. According to research,
the Great Yorkshire is one of the top-four most-attended shows in
the UK, says managing director Steve Lloyd.
"We have decided to exhibit at the most-attended shows and the
Great Yorkshire falls in that bracket. We will be exhibiting a
number of animal incinerators and will have information on a range
of our energy-enhancing systems. This includes ways of using energy
created by heat sources, be it manure stacks or incinerators."
Following talks with Business Link, interest-free loans or
grants may also be available for a number of the company's
products. This can be discussed with staff at the Business Link
stand.
Good attendance and a superb location in the middle of a
livestock area was something that attracted K-Two Sales, says (JOB
TITLE) Paul Kelloway. "The show offers a good shop window for us to
present our products. We will have a number of local dealers
available to meet present and future clients."
K-Two will be exhibiting a silage trailer, two rear-discharge
vertical beater muck spreaders and a swath conditioner for turning
grass, hay and straw swaths.
NC Engineering director Wilfred Carson will also be returning
for the same reasons. "We have exhibited some of our equipment on
other stands in the past, but following the successful trade, this
is the second year we have set up in our own right.
"New this year, is a bale transporter that we will be exhibiting
alongside a number of silage and grain trailers."
David Richie will also be present again. "The Great Yorkshire
show is the most important show in the north of England for us,"
says the firm's Bob Richie.
"We will be showing a range of livestock handling, weighing and
grassland equipment. This will include a calf de horning crate,
sheep turn over crate and grass slit aerator, to name but a
few."
