DEFRA secretary Hilary
Benn has been forced to delay making an announcement on
set-aside.
The minister was due to reveal his decision on whether to opt
for a voluntary or compulsory approach to set-aside on Wednesday 8
July during his visit to the Royal Show in Warwickshire.
But he has been ordered by Prime Minister Gordon Brown to attend
an important finance debate in the House of Commons and cannot now
make the trip.
His officials are trying to rearrange the journey to Stoneleigh for
the Thursday (9 July) instead.
