BASF
is developing a new potato blight fungicide, which it hopes will
receive registration in the next two years.
The active ingredient, ametoctradin, was from a new chemical
group, the pyrimidylamines, the firm's Robert Storer said. "It is
an oomycete specialist, which means it control late blight and
downy mildews in a variety of crops."
Initium, the trade name for the active ingredient, was being
developed in combination with other active ingredients for use
against potato late blight, he confirmed. "In trials it has
performed on a par with standards such as Infinito, Ranman and
Revus."
