Pleasing harvest at Ashby Ledger

Harvest has gone well at Ashby Ledger Farms, Rugby, Warwickshire, where manager Joe Scott has finished combining and drilling oilseed rape.

“We had Solstice and Gallant at Ashby Ledger, and Oakley and Duxford at Rockingham, and I would say yields are above average, although we haven’t calculated the final results,” he said.

Oilseed rape averaged a pleasing 4.5t/ha (1.8t/acre), with Expower topping the rankings, closely followed by Sesame, with Excel bringing up the rear.

“We had a few Wizard beans, and they weren’t too bad, either.”

Mr Scott finished drilling oilseed rape on 28 August.

“It went in really well and is growing nicely; conditions are pretty much spot on.”
