Danish dairy farmers worried about digital dermatitis in their cows' feet should soon have a new option, and that's to fit this foot-washing unit from Morch Teknic on the exit to the parlour. Up to 40 nozzles along the unit's 3m (10ft) length spray the animals' feet with water and cleaning.

Danish dairy farmers worried about digital dermatitis in their cows' feet should soon have a new option, and that's to fit this foot-washing unit from Morch Teknic on the exit to the parlour. Up to 40 nozzles along the unit's 3m (10ft) length spray the animals' feet with water and soap solution and the waste water is recycled and can be reused for up to a week. Cost in Denmark is about £10,000.

Fellow Danish firm Klovplejeboksen offers a similar unit called the Bovibooster, though this is specifically designed to operate on the exit from a robot milker. Like the the Morch unit, it uses jets of warm water and soap to clean the cows' feet.
