Turksish delights and a bit of PR

Well, I complained about the wheather and through the powers of FWI space, and as a result - its been bloomin' great! I took the dog out and i was sweating!!!!

On the farm on saturday, we had fencing to do as i mentioned, this went pretty smoothly (despite waking up on sunday feeling like an arthritic pensioner from that post knocker). We got the line of fencing done, and it looks rather good (even if i say so myself). We also had a load of other jobs to do on the shoot but i got out of these as i had to go and show people around the farm. I really like the open farm sunday idea, and our farm is going to be a visitor farm so when one of the lads from the shoot asked if his work collegue could come over with family in tow and would i show them around, i jumped at the chance! The boss is fine with this so they arrived and i dashed over on the quad to greet them. All was well, i took them down to the shed, showed them the piglets, the poddy lamb and the main attraction  - my boss mucking out in the John Deere - what more could you want!! I then went down to the pigs, explained the whole thing, the breed, rarebreeds etc etc and had a chat with them. NOTE -this is twice in two weeks i have had to deal with the general public - this seems to be too much talking not enough farming!!

It was all good though, by which time the bosses in laws arrived with a pig from wales and 3 turkeys (dont ask, just dont!) so pig was offloaded, turkeys got swore at as it excaped into the pig arc, chased them around before settling them down in the little shed - cutting edge or what!

Then, to add to all this excitement, the bosses whatever in law (he is about 12) broke down on his little quad type thing, i had to go and get him with my mate several times after he kept braking down! Then i had to drop more posts off. But, I now have a new, well, hobby i suppose. Me being the entrepanerial kind of guy (your meant to laugh at that point) I am rearing turkeys for christmas so i just need to build the pen, source some more eggs (just sorted them now) and get there house up! Any orders for christmas 2008 - I reckon i could hack the marketing what with all this speel to the general public on the farm!

Very impressive sounding tour Matty - you should start charging and make yourself some money to put towards your turkey enterprise!

You'll end up being on the Apprentice soon if you keep up with these businesses anyway - do you reckon you could take on Alan Sugar? ;)

Matty - take you camera along to the Open Farm Sunday and send us some pictures in. We tend to print a whole load both here and in the mag:

Do you reckon it would take that much money to get Jimmy out of singing retirement then, Sir Matty?

Thinking about it, do you think he actually retired or was forced to stop singing because you were the only one who bought his album? ;)

Oh, I used to love Neville! Speaking of which, I'm pretty sure Kevin Whately was in a comedy about a turkey farm about ten years ago. Are you modelling yourself on Nev?! :)
