You know when i prayed for the sun through the powers of farmers weekly, yes? Well by god its worked!
Today seen all ramblers and walkers out in force, trecking across fields, happily smiling as you try to get past on the quad and then annoying you when they try to tell you shootings just about blasting away at some poor bird. Anyway, getting to the point in here.
I got really annoyed today! Without saying too much (I wont say there name but I will say its not Dick Or Harry out the title) i got asked for some small bales, so i sorted some out and got told where to pick them up. Yes fine! I got told the shed was unlocked and to fill the trailer up, shut the shed and just pay the guy when I seen him. Sorted! But Oh, No, I went to the shed, reversed up, opened the tail gate and the shed and went in. I got onto the stack and had a lad at the bottom (just a guy who i shoot with who fancied a ride on the quad) when all of a sudden this head appeared around the door shouting at me, telling me to get out and frankly, was rather abusive and agressive. So, i got out and went to talk with him, i did the talking (AGAIN - this is 3 times in 3 weeks - i think i am more of a public face than that fella off News at 10).
So anyway, i explained why i was there (NOTE-i wasn't intimidated yet kept a cool head and wasn't cocky but i was tempted, believe me) and to cut along story short - he said i couldn't go in because he rents it out to the fella that said i could go in yet the tentant is the only the sole person ho is allowed in despite it just being a hay shed which the bales he sells so you would expect someone to collect them once in a while. Dont get me wrong, i wouldn't be overly happy if some good looking guy (sorry a just needed to) entered my barn but to have an attitude like that and also to treat someone like that is a bit unfair! I am always on the farm so find it difficult to believe he didnt recognise me or the vehicle i was driving!
Anyone, to conclude (have you noticed these formal words i am using, you can tell i am doing GCSE english at mo) i went out, the fella came over and let me in, had a word with the bloke, the bloke came over and introduced himself, as did I, told him who i was, what i was doing (just that i work on the farm etc etc) and he sort of apologised (in as few words) and we chatted - dont really like him but its better to be seen as the good guy than a miserable git! I even know his wifes name !!! His anger may have been sparked due to the number of people walking around his house (public footpath) but its all good now but i have been told there was a similar run in a while ago regarding something else which he was ''narked about''.
NEWS JUST IN!!!! Just on the phone at the moment (What a bloke multi tasking!!!) to my mate - he has just cut his leg open with a chainsaw and hes off to A&E. He's a good mate of mine, his dad's in the shoot - obviousely i gave sympathy where its needed (called him a pillik). I suppose it really makes you think about health and safety a bit more!!!
Turkeys
Turkey pens under construction - I got really really really annoyed with it - the house for them wouldn't go up - not my fault and the fence is just about finished - just need to shift some waste with the tractor. The incubators on and were ready to rock and roll!
