It would be possible to make it 40K but it would be a big job ,the difference's between 30 & 40K are in the gearing of the splitter gears, which means a major job to get inside and the cost of the new parts would make it uneconomic I would say. As for four wheel braking I'am sure it should be on already does the 4WD work ok anyway?

What shape are the tyres in ? Would changing (all) the wheels be cheaper than modifying the gearbox ? I had one of these years ago, and found the tyres under-spec - is yours on 16.9R38 ? Would it work with 20.8R42 or something. Two words of warning : 1. beware of odd sizes. e.g. I have a tractor on 18.4R42. These are difficult to get, and all the tyres available are old technology so poor for grip and flotation compared with the best; 2. mind your mechanical ratio between rear and front axle.

    Hi,

Are you having any luck with the conversion? I also have an old 30K model and would like to make it 40k, have been told its something as simple as changing a shaft when you split it but I fear it wont be that simple??
