I thought you were refering to me, HHS. I got farm diesel delivered yesterday, when he handed me the ticket I started to panic.

KF - I suspect yours will be cheaper than it is around here! Price for red is around 57 p/litre at the moment.

I actually didn't look, but it was probably about $3.50 per gallon.  That actually would be pretty close to your price if I figured it in my head right.

Interesting. I'll take your word for it. The gallons to litre conversion, followed up by the dollars to sterling is too much for me in post-holiday mode!

Thanks, Jacobus.  You need to factor in the unofficial KF exchange ratio, I figured out that if it costs a pound in your nation,it costs a dollar here, roughly.  Your wellies cost me 27 pounds which I have since been told was too high, ours cost$12.  Steak dinner in the UK was about 13 pounds, here it would be about $13.  Anyway you look at it, fuel is too high.

KF - I just realised that I forgot to factor in the difference between a US gallon and an Imperial gallon - so the truth is somewhere between your figure and mine!

Re queues. All I can say to panic buying motorists is hahaha. They could always use a few gallons driving to the refinery to throw stones at the striking workers picket lines.

Got to order some diesel soon, but am thinking I may be better off buying a bigger tank and getting 20,000l delivered now.

If fuel was going short (it isn't) they should be buying food not petrol as supermarket shelves would be empty in hours. Just shows mobs in a panic aren't rationalConfused

Richard Haddock always used to tell us that just suggesting a fuel blockade would induce shortage as panic buying took hold, which of course meant we never need to go out in the cold stopping lorrys.

Make sure it is secure. A bigger tank just means more to steal...

Off on a tangent and onto stolen fuel. At my last farm i was on, the first time the fuel was pumped out. the second time they tapped and pumped it out resulting in a hefty repair bill to the tank. Third time they cut a hole in the front door of the tank to get at the pump etc and got it out that way and the last time (after another hefty repair bill and home mods to the door) they couldnt get in so they just got a hi-ab and just took the whole tank! just goes to show the lengths some people will go too!

    Re: Fuel Panic!

Munchy, you definitely need a tank filled with pink water there. That way you may have the added advantage of catching them within a mile of your farm.
