    Hello from Worcester

Hi my name is Matt, i'm involved only in farmng through friends, and through my Hobby/Passion, of pest control / vermin control.

I work 3 bits of land in the upton area for 3 farmers, keeping the rabbit population as low as possible, and helping where i can with the continuous pigeon problems.

I never really knew what you guys had to cope with until i got stuck in with my trusty .177 PCP Daystate Airwolf. A lot of my friends are in agriculture and it's good to be able to help where i can.

Thanks Matty s, i have found some great articals on the forum, and the thing that springs to mind is there are so many farmers losing so much (crops - livestock) and there are so many guys out there that would do the job for you, for NOTHING, the other week not only did i save my land owner a few hundred pounds of crops i disturbed some poachers. As my landowner said Win Win i think, i get to eat the rabbits and he gets a full crop.

I couldn't be any more happy at doing my bit believe me. if you have the right people and they are willing to do the job take advantage of us, we won't mind lol, Honest

Yes ya right mate! I am on a few farms and run a syndicate with my grandad on one and one of the farms we have for vermin, the farmer is the most igronant person i have ever met. You come on here and everyone is really nice, this one bloke, we disturbed poachers like you did, we spent hours with ferrets, we went nearly everday to check snares and shot all the time we could. We even went and dropped him a bottle of famous grouse in @ xmas and all we got was a grunt and a ''there still lots of rabbits there''. He had took over the land that year and my grandad had the rabbits to a manageable level which he had shot for 20 year and the farmer was just a young fellow yet soo igronant and rude. Luckily i now have a really nice boss (farmer) and a few nice land owners. And, we do it for free obv. Luckily the guys on ere are nice and not like that fella at all!

    speak soon mate

welcome to the forum. im also quite new here and also carry out vermin control on a few farms.  i patrol the farms and also chech for things that should not be there. i once forun a live cat in a snare a poacher left while out with the lamp and rescued it.  vermin controlers can play a important part to farmers.. i for one repair sandstone walls check on sheep, report lame lambs to the farmer and help on the farm when the farm hand is on holiday. at different times of the year i have different duties ie may will be crows at the moment its petrolling the lambs in the fields for mobbing crows and rabbits and ferral pigeons all year round.

i just wish the pay was the same as me 9-5 job then i would work n the farms full time
