Am new to the forums and this is my first post, so please go easy if i make a mistake.

 We have an old International 2350 Series A connected up to a Teagle Topper 4. Topped 2/3 of a field and the shear bolt went. Teagle suggested M6x50mm bolts of normal (ie. 8.8) hardness. As soon as i engage the PTO they shear.

 Should it be possible on this model of tractor to alter the speed of the PTO or gradually engage it from the clutch. Currently it makes no difference if i depress the clutch or not but should it?

 Any help appreciated so i can get back to topping.

Does your forward speed not determine the PTO speed? Its normal for the shear bolt to go when topping, we always have a box of spares, it sounds as if the PTO is getting engaged at too fast a speed, the same happens if its disengaged at speed (it jerks and shears). I dont know about your tractor but i used to drive an old JD and when you went faster so did the PTO and vice versa.
