We have a farm king 180, Rolls 3-5 tons per hour depending on the barley. The drier the barley the more it rolls per hour. Ours has done 1500 ton now, needed 2 bearings in that time, both very easy fitted.

I used to have a renn 36 in roller mill, it did not impress me at all, it designed to bruise maize in canada, and everything on it it u.s imperial size, the quailty of finish it left wasnt good either. One of its biggest problems was dealing with chaff in the hopper, as it blocked the flow of grain to the rollers. I have now got a superior super 16 , which has 48in rollers and to date have rolled about 1800t with it, and im v impressed. The quality of finish it leaves is very good. It has been designed with the uk in mind, and will leave a good sample. I have used a smaller superior model which was v good also although i only had it for a few hours.

Local contractor does our rolling with a Superior mill can easily do about 60 ton in a day including travelling to us. He says it works virtually full time through the winter and crimps at harvest time as well. It is a few years old and apart from a spring and the odd tminor thing all he has had to do is replace the rollers when worn out. A very impressive machine. gee

Share a Farm King 18 inch with a neighbour. Have had it for 10 years in that time has done approx 3500 tonne. Have replaced outlet auger bush biannually, same with belts and canvasses beside either side of rollers once and about to turn second se, the hydralic hoses last year. No main bearings yet. Gets serviced every 40-50 tonne. Does 5+ tonne an hour with good two row barley half that with 6 row pine needles. Doesn't flatten grain simply cracks it which puts some people off. Would we buy another one? Yes!!

Please share your knowledge of mills manufactured by Wakely Engineering (Ireland), RomiLL (Czech Rep.), Murska/Korte (Finland), Superior (UK). We now choosing between Murska and Superior and sure your advice would be appreciated. In my turn I can say than Renn Rollermills and Crimpers are of low quality. I bought one in 2006 - had to change chain, bearings, rollers were completely deformed after processing grain during only one summer. I can't be sure, but still I think that Buhler and New Concept (also Canadian) mills are not much better..

We bought a murska from Kelvin Cave, it is probably one of our best ever investments.I think it's a700; 12tons per hour. It  has rolled at least6000t of dry cereals including dry maize and peas,it has also crimped 1500t of wet grain maize. Wheat and triticale go through at about16tph ,barley 14tph maize 10ish. Our rollers are just about worn out,and we have put the quantity through that K.C expected . A 60hp tractor gets a bit hot,110hp doesnt know its there!! Original bearings etc. Get aset of magnets ,it's frightening what they pick out! I'll never buy any other make!
