Which celebrities do you like and which ones can't you stand?

We've just been arguing about people in the public eye we like and people we don't. It is getting a little heated - newsreaders in particular are taking some heat. I'm not keen on Kirsty Young, but she seems to go down well with the men in the office. I'm a huge fan of Adrian Chiles but there are others who can't stand his Wolves (have now been informed it is West Brom - see below) accent...

Anyone you like - perhaps because they have a connection to agriculture - and any you aren't sure about?

I think Clarissa Dickson Wright is a brilliant champion of the countryside, and very normal with it!

I agree with He his-self about Jordan and Peter Andre.

But the ones I hate most are the ones who were on shows like Big Brother. Oh and after listening to the radio one morning one who are more like z list ones but think they are the most famous person around and try and milk it.

As for ones I like there are some film and so music people I like but I don't mind most who are down to earth and don't try and force thier beliefs on to others just because they famous.

Kansas, thankfully I do not think they are talking about Jordan the country which is from my experience a wonderful place. Given his strong support for the rural community and agriculture (organic and otherwise) and his willingness to follow his convictions, I would have though the Prince of Wales would be on most rural people's list. I guess that depends on what one's definition of celebrity though. Stuart

Jordan is also known as Katie Price, and is famous for her (fake) ample bosom and being married to Peter Andre who thinks he is a popstar Ick! ! Prince Charles is definately a good choice, but another on my hit list would be the singer Amy Winehouse -  she needs a good slap!

Which celebrities do you like? = None of them

Which ones can't you stand? = All of them

Isabel - I don't think Adrian Chiles would take kindly to be accused of having a"Wolves accent" he is a massive West Bromich Albion FC fan, the biggest rivals of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC!

I admit to liking Adrian Chiles too Big Smile

Well out of the celebs I have met...Eddie Izzard, nice bloke

    Jools Holland, excellent laugh

Caroline Quinten, nice lady with a wicked sense of humour and smelly feet. (she bought odour eaters off me when I was a shop lass)

    Lionel Blair, very polite

Ozzy Osbourne, just a brummy lad

Ex-Dr Who Sylvester McCoy, he was a friend of my late Uncle so saw him a lot.

    Prince Charles (way above celebrity)

I have admiration for some I have never met (or have yet to meet)

    Joss Stone

Ruth Jones (Gavin and Stacey and various other shows)

Those I met and took an instant dislike to..

Princess Diana, no real interest in anything farm/smallholder related

    Harry Enfield, stuck up

The list could be longer but have to go to Bideford!

Just give me land, lots of land, with the starry skies above....don't fence me in.

Re: Which celebrities do you like and which ones can't you stand?

Ben Fogle comes over as a nice enough sort of bloke but then again, so did Hitler to those who claimed to be friends.

Robin Page is my sort of bloke and so are KF, Ally R, and lots of other contributors yet I have never met any of them. Isabel, Crazy Sheep and Dartmoor Val are not a blokes but you get the picture. I suppose all this demonstrates how important actually sitting down and talking to someone is.

To change tack somewhat, the celebrities that get up my nose are the ones that are trailed along the lines of:  "Everybody's talking about the new release/book/show/painting by X. "  Who is everybody?  It is as though I am being told that my life is devoid of some essential element should I not be a part of their own interest group.

Give me a flock of sheep anytime. Every one a celebrity !

What about the top celebrity chefs? They have done a lot to push British food - Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsay and even the irascible Marco Pierre White. My favourite, having met him last week [sorry to name drop..] is Marcus Wareing. He's a bit of dish if you'll pardon the pun and fantastically enthusiastic - as well as being in awe - of British farmers and the quality of food they produce.
