Which of the events are you going to?

We're bang in the middle of the show and event season. We've got the Pig and Poulty event this week, Grassland next and Cereals a couple of weeks after that.

    Who is going to what?

Well we were going to Devon County Show tomorrow but have just received a severe weather warning for the SW. Muddy grass and wheelchairs don't mix so keeping fingers crossed that Royal Cornwall will be better weather. Kids are disappointed but we may fit in the Royal Bath and West if we can.

Just give me land, lots of land, with the starry skies above....don't fence me in.

That's a shame - especially after the past few days have been so glorious. Fingers crossed for the organisers!

    The Royal Welsh of course

and what is left of the Three Counties. A shadow of its former self as an agricultural show, but there are lots of foody items which give you ideas for small scale marketing etc.

Re: Which of the events are you going to?

Well in the past we've done the rounds of the west Wales shows (mainly: Aber, Cardigan, Pembroke, Cothi Bridge, Lampeter) plus the Royal Welsh Smallholders and The Royal Welsh.  We did the Three Counties last year (where our breed show is held), which was interestingly damp.

This year we won't be doing anything outside Wales and won't be showing anything at Builth, although we'll still go to one day of The Royal Welsh.  Just too worried about getting trapped somewhere if those pesky midges cause trouble.  Also the show rounds are a lot of work and I think we're at a point now where we're moving away from wanting to sell breeding stock, so showing them off is less important.  We'll certainly be at Lampeter on August 8th as my neighbour is show chairman!  If you're in the vicinity do come along: we have a really good show with lots of genuine farmers and some really good stock. (Shameless plug)

Devon County tomorrow, to help a friend showing her Greyface Dartmoors 'cause mine have to stay home due to bluetongue restrictions. My lot will be appearing at the Sherborne castle rare breeds show on 26th may. The weather forecast down here is for the worst of the rain tonight, so it should (!) be dry for judging tomorrow afternoon.

    Not every day is baaaaad.....

Those who say it cannot be done, should not interrupt the person doing it.
