  • Peas or beans in Devon

    Anyone growing feed peas or beans in Devon this year? I'm looking to buy 2 or 3 tonnes. Would also like to buy a small quantity now just to try out in my rations. No point buying if the animals won't eat it!!!

    Aside from the inevitable consequences of our weather, the prospects for beans (and peas) for 08 look pretty good to me - providing you can get the quality (read bruchid damage). The amount of land that's gone into (second) wheat suggests area will be down, yet the markets are still there....at least...

    Not a huge amount Tas, at least not compared with France et al. According to DEFRA June 2007 statistics maize accounts for 130,800ha last year (up 5%). In comparison wheat totals 1,693,000ha, barley (all) 566,400ha, oilseed rape 564,200ha, potatoes 105,300ha, sugar beet 122,200ha, beans 116,000ha, peas...
