  • Wet weather woes

We ran a bit of a live chat for a couple of hours for people to pitch in with how the weather has been affecting them. You can find the comments here: http://www.fwi.co.uk/Articles/2008/08/19/111713/wet-weather-problems-share-your-problems-and-experiences.html I'm closing the live chat bit for now...

  • The Weather!!!!! Grrr

Who isn't complaning about the weather!? I read teslacoils blog , it doesn't sound like he can get much done with it, but I thought, why are people moaning about the weather, as i was cutting the lawn in the blazing sun. It was lovely and warm, so naturally as you do, you think its a change and...

  • Oilseed rape germination - or not!

Two of our Farmer Focus writers are becoming concerned that the Indian summer is less than welcome as far as their oilseed rape crops are concerned. Ironically, after the sodden summer, they need decent rain to get their crops away. One is even considering irrigating - if he can borrow his neighbour's...

  • Long range forecasts

This made me laugh. Take a look at what netweather.tv was predicting at the start of July. No mention of possible flooding (or is that what "70% chance of above average rainfall" means?!) Is there any point to a forecast more than about 48 hours in advance? Summer weather forecast - updated...

  • Re: Started harvest!

Our havrest reporter, David Kemp, is struggling to find anyone (for obvious reasons!) who has done much so far either. Obviously some farmers have made a start further south, and I heard last week, that a few were having a nibble in North Yorkshire, but that's about all it was. Seems like the weather...

  • Re: Started harvest!

Can we have some of your 30C and fine weather please?! Sounds like you're really going back in time with the feeding the village grain...but no one should complain about food miles!! How many people does the 120t feed, and does it last all winter? Would be great to see some pictures if you get the...
