Additive that makes phosphate fertiliser use more effective to be sold in UK

A fertiliser additive that claims to make phosphate fertiliser more available to plants is going to be marketed in the UK by Carrs Fertilisers.

University research and on-farm tests have suggested Avail, which is either impregnated on to dry phosphate fertiliser or mixed with liquid fertilisers, can increase yields by 10-15%.

It works by acting as a shield, protecting the fertiliser from elements that would normally render phosphate unavailable in the soil.

It means the fertiliser remains available for uptake throughout the growing season, especially during early development, the product’s manufacturer Speciality Fertilizer Products says.

Under the terms of the agreement, Carrs Fertilisers will sell Avail directly to its customer base and to other fertiliser retailers in the UK.
