So far he has harvested 25ha (62 acres) of Siberia out of a total 75ha (190 acres) of barley.

Although Mr Cooper said “we’re not breaking any records”, he was particularly happy with his specific weight which is between 68 and 71 kg/hl.

“It’s unbelievable,” he commented.

He’s getting 7.56 t/ha (3.06 t/acre) while the moisture content is between 14 and 16%.

Mr Cooper’s farm received 13ml of rain on Saturday (July 17) afternoon, but after a sunny Sunday he was able to start harvesting on Monday.

He said: “It looks good.”
