Bruce finishes in Shropshire

Bruce Udale finished harvest at Eyton House Farm, Telford, Shrops, on Friday night (19 September).

“Most people in Shropshire are getting wrapped up now,” he said.

The winter wheat did well, yielding above average, with Alchemy and Humber topping the scales.

Dalguise oats also yielded better than normal, at well over 7.4t/ha (3t/acre).

“I’m pretty happy with harvest, considering the weather,” said Mr Udale.

He had drilled all his rape and it was now growing well. “But locally a lot hasn’t gone in – some people are just starting to sow now.”

 Syngenta

Duxford winter wheat is an HGCA Recommended List 2008/09 variety with very high UK treated yields and the top score for resistance to lodging with PGR. Combined with an unbeaten second wheat yield and a balanced disease resistance profile, this new variety from Syngenta Seeds will help UK growers rise to the challenge of producing more grain profitably.
