Growers have been advised to check their crop protection products to ensure they were not damaged during the recent cold snap.

Chemicals kept in poorly insulated farm stores may have damaged packaging and the cold may have decreased their effectiveness, warns John Humphreys, arable products manager for AtlasFram Group.

He said some fungicides, especially generic products, are not designed to withstand below-freezing temperatures and the physical characteristics of their active ingredients may be affected.
