FARMERS LOOKING to enter into the Entry or Higher Level Environmental Stewardship schemes can access a range of conservation advice on a new website.
The site, www.farmwildlife.info provides information on how to get involved in ‘green farming schemes’, case studies demonstrating what farmers have done to benefit particular species and conservation advice from a number of organisations.
“The website is complementing the work of farm advisors by bringing good case studies together,” commented Dave Smallshire from the government’s Rural Development Service – one of the groups involved with developing the site.
“It is also a good alternative for farmers unable to attend demonstration events.”
Organisations involved include: The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, the Game Conservancy Trust, DEFRA, English Nature, Butterfly Conservation, the Bat Conservation Trust and Plantlife.
