BOVINE GENETICS supplier Genus is to buy south-west-based Supersires in a seven-figure deal.

Sersia (France) – the majority shareholder in Supersires – and the Dartington Cattle Breeding Trust have agreed in principle the sale of the company to Cheshire-based Genus.

Directors hope to complete the sale by July 1, subject to clearance from competition authorities.

Steve Amies, managing director of Genus GB breeding, said he was delighted with the deal.

“Supersires has a well-regarded workforce, and financial support from Genus can ensure the long-term profitability of the business, crucial to provide continued employment and quality of service.”
