Members of Molson Coors Growers’ Group recently joined forces with employees at Molson Coors Brewing Company and Frontier Agriculture for a 210-mile charity bike ride.
The feat, called “From Grain to Glass”, began at the firm’s maltings in Burton-upon-Trent and ended at its brewery in Alton, Hampshire.
The gruelling three-day journey has already raised more than £3,500 for the Prince’s Countryside Fund.
Jerry Dyson, of Molson Coors, said: “The team of 13 – 11 on bikes and two in the support van (the fun bus) – set off from Burton first thing on a Tuesday morning and all of us, in need of a pint and a bit saddle sore, made it into Alton on the Thursday evening. None of us realised how “mountainous” England was but the ride was made easier because of the camaraderie in the group and the hospitality we received along the way. So far, we have received over £3,500 for the Prince’s Countryside Fund but we’re aiming for more to reach our £5,000 target.”
Jon Duffy, of Frontier Agriculture, said: “Riding over 200 miles was always going to be a tough challenge but to do it with such a great bunch of people was the real highlight.
“The route chosen was just about perfect – perhaps with the exception of those ridiculous hills going out of Winchcombe and Wantage. To have such a warm reception from all the farms we visited along the route added to the special nature of the ride.”
