The first commercial Vistive hybrid oilseed rape variety has been launched by Dekalb.

V275OL, which is the first Vistive variety to bring yield performance in line with other winter oilseed rape choices, also offers the valuable healthier oil profile required by the fast food chains.

Grown on contract through Glencore for ADM, it will attract a minimum £25/t premium at harvest, rising to £35/t for September.

“We’re very excited about this latest Vistive line,” said Anne Williams of Dekalb. “It was only registered last week and it means that there’s no longer a yield penalty associated with growing Vistive varieties.”

The market opportunity for healthier frying oils with known provenance has never been greater, she added. “Now there are even more grower benefits too.”

A second Vistive hybrid, V280OL, is expected imminently, she revealed. “It also combines high yields with an excellent oil profile.”
