His 120ha (300 acre) crop consisting of Option, Einstein and Malacca “looked black and horrible in the ear,” but the crop yielded well at 11.1 t/ha (4.5 t/acre).

His Option looked the best with Hagbergs around 140 and high proteins. It made the milling grade but because of slightly low hagbergs he will only receive a discounted premium.

Mr Fuller-Shapcott has finished drilling his oilseed rape and when he has the time he will make a start on his winter barley.
