Maize growers will be able to get their cobs assessed for maturity and prediction of harvest date, at this year’s Dairy Event and Livestock Show.

To take advantage of the free cob clinic on the Limagrain UK stand, maize growers should bring six maize cobs, picked that morning, to the stand for an on-the-spot assessment of harvesting date backed up with a dry matter analysis.

Limagrain’s Tim Richmond explains: “With the earlier date of the show, and also the more challenging weather conditions for growers, we are expecting cob maturities and sizes will vary more than usual this year. So the cob clinic is set to be a busy one.

“We will also be giving advice on what varieties are best suited for different growing sites, and what to look out for when growing maize under plastic.”
