New wheat disease encyclopaedia goes live

A new online encyclopaedia to help growers and advisors identify the major foliar, seed-borne, root and stem-based diseases of wheat has been launched by the Home Grown Cereals Authority.

The web tool contains information on the disease life cycle, hosts, symptoms and guidance on control. It also features lesser known problems like Tan spot and Omphalina, plus a photo library of the key diseases.

The HGCA said the new tool will complements the existing Wheat Disease Management Guide by going into more detail about the key diseases.

The encyclopaedia can be accessed free at www.hgca.com/wde
