On track with winter wheat in Suffolk
There were blue skies and the wind was blowing this morning at Anthony Hogsbjerg’s farm in Belchamp Water, Suffolk.
Son Aaron said that, although rain was forecast today the long term forecast was better.
He hoped to combine again this afternoon on 50ha (125 acres) of Glasgow winter wheat. So far 150ha (375 acres) were cut yielding 10t/ha (4t/acre) at 13% moisture.
“I’m pleased we’re keeping up, considering the year we’ve had,” He said
He hoped to finish spring barley by tomorrow afternoon, with just 6-8 ha (15-20 acres) of Optic left.
So far it was running well at 13-14% moisture.
“We’re not getting behind, it seems to be running smoothly and we’re quite pleased.”
