With most combining peas likely to be chasing premium markets this season, samples with pea moth damage are likely to be rejected or penalised, warns the PGRO.

“Control of pea moth will be well worthwhile, and monitoring for the pest to obtain the optimum spray timing is important,” says Anthony Biddle.

Traps need to be placed in the crops by the third week of May, he notes.
