Richard Cobbald expects to start combining his oilseed rape at West Wratting Park Estate
Richard Cobbald, one of FW’s Farmer Focus contributors, expects to start combining his oilseed rape at West Wratting Park Estate, Cambs, on Wednesday (23 July).
“It seems to be very slow to ripen,” he said. None of the 283ha (700 acres) of Castille, ES Astrid and NK Bravour seemed to be ripening any quicker than the rest, with green patches throughout some of the crops, he added.
The 105ha (260 acres) of NFC Tipple spring barley and the Oakley, Gladiator and Hereward winter wheat were all still a long way off. “It’s looking pretty good though – I am quietly optimistic.”
