SCOTS CLARIFY STANDARDS

SCOTTISH QUALITY Cereals has reviewed and consolidated its standards for 2004/2005, to improve understanding amongst growers. But no new requirements have been added.

“The motivation was the introduction of other programmes and therefore a greater burden on farmers – notably NVZs and the Voluntary Initiative,” says Gary Stoddart, SQC technical manager.

In a letter sent to the organisation”s 3600 members SQC technical advisory committee chairman David Pate pledges that SQC will introduce a new standard only if there is a real need or benefit.
