A West Country pie maker who appealed to readers of Farmers Weekly for supplies of quality fresh produce has been inundated with responses from hopeful farmers.

The call went out in the 21 October issue of FW for pie ingredients ranging from beef and organic chicken to herbs and leeks.

More than 150 farmers and food processors in the region called Pie-minister’s managing director, Tristan Hogg, at the company’s Bristol base.

“It was a really solid response.

There were some interesting leads, though the majority would be too small for us, and many more were on the meat side.”

Mr Hogg said he was planning to contact some processors immediately, but had not yet found exactly what he was looking for:

A one-stop shop for the majority of his vegetable and meat needs.
