Weather is still proving difficult

So far Mr Brickell has harvested 25ha (60 acres) out of a total 50ha (120 acres) of Pict barley.

“Everything is alright apart from the weather” he announced

He is located only three miles from the sea and this morning (Friday July 16) sea mist was hampering his progress through the field.

“It would make life a lot easier if conditions were better”

The yield for the crop is 6.42 t/ha (2.6 t/acre) and moisture content is averaging about 16%.

Mr Brickell didn’t know the exact figures of specific weight but said “it looks fine”

“My rape is ready and as soon as I finish harvesting my barley I’ll be making a start on it.”
