Woodland appeals to many buyer types
Woodland continues to appeal widely to the investor and leisure markets. A good example is East Wood near Dunster in Somerset. It lies seven miles from the Bristol Channel and is likely to attract leisure, conservation and timber production interests.
John Clegg & Co is looking for offers around £120,000 for the plot of just over 29 acres. It has broadleaved plantings of oak, beech, ash and silver birch from 1930 and maturing, alongside 1960 plantings of European larch, Douglas fir, Grand fir and Western hemlock.
Moving to Herefordshire, Broadmarsh Coppice near Leominster offers 25 acres combining timber production, nature conservation and sporting with good access. The same firm has set a guide price here of offers of about £110,000.
Also in Herefordshire, Ramsden Coppice at Holme Lacy is larger, at almost 74 acres. Mainly planted in 1972 and now partly mature, this is described as a good-quality mixed species wood. It offers timber harvesting, game shooting and deer stalking as well as conservation habitats.
