Five good reasons to be at EPIC

The Egg and Poultry Industry Conference (EPIC) is fast approaching, but what will be the attraction of this years event? Poultry World gives five reasons to attend.

1: Enhance your knowledge of poultry issues

The theme for EPIC this year is "Rising to the global challenge". The poultry industry is operating in a global market place and this affects everyone in the meat and egg supply chain. The industry is already one of the most efficient and innovative sectors in agribusiness, well known for adapting to change. But should it do more to meet the global competiiton?

2: Listen to top speakers

This year promises an exceptional programme of speakers, including British businessman and politician, Lord Digby Jones (pictured). One of world's acclaimed business commentators, he is known to captivate audiences with his distinctive, personal style.

Mark Berrisford Smith, head of economics at HSBC, will also share his views.

3: Meet fellow producers

EPIC offers producers an ideal chance to meet and talk to others in the industry, to share expert knowledge and experiences, or just to socialise. It also provides the chance to pose any pressing questions about the challenges the industry faces, either from the conference floor or informally over a cup of coffee.

4: Talk to suppliers

The exbibitor area has become a key part of EPIC, with trade stands from many of the key suppliers of products and services to the poultry sector. Company representatives will be on hand to offer advice, and maybe even do some business.

5: Be entertained

It's not all about work. The event allows plenty of time for fun and relaxation, including a pre-conference cocktail party on the Sunday, followed by the White Meat Supper and after-dinner entertainment from mind-reader Graham P Jolley. The conference ends with a spectacular banquet, with entertainment from Barry Cryer, on Monday 5 November.

EVENT INFORMATION

EPIC takes place on Sunday 4 and Monday 5 November at The Marriott Forest Of Arden Hotel in Meriden near Birmingham. Email info@epiconference.co.uk. Accommodation can be booked via the Marriott website
