Choice of commercial farms for sale widens

There is a choice of smaller commercial farms across several counties this week.

The largest of these, at more than 376 acres, is Diddlesfold Farm in West Sussex.

Near Northchapel and south-east of Haslemere, this grassland and arable farm is just 45 miles from central London. It has a range of farm buildings and includes some mature woodland and ponds.

The former dairy farm comes to the market with a guide price of £3.355m and includes a pair of three-bedroom cottages, one of which needs updating.

On the Gloucestershire/Wiltshire border, Upper Burytown Farm at Blunsdon (pictured) is a compact farm in a private and picturesque setting and has substantial buildings.

There is just over 78 acres of arable land, almost 68 acres of pasture and 11 acres of woodland. The farm has a four-bedroom Victorian farmhouse, which was previously two cottages.

The main yard was built about 12 years ago, with well laid-out and adaptable modern livestock and arable buildings.

The Grade 3 land is mainly Denchworth and Evesham series soils, in a ring fence with good road access. The farm is run in-hand but worked by contractors and is for sale as whole with a guide price of £2m.

Moving north-east, Farroway Farm on the edge of the Lincolnshire Fens offers just over 173 acres of productive Grade 2 fenland. There is a traditional farmhouse and range of buildings.

This is a retirement sale for owners Peter and Dawn Green, with the house, buildings and land lotted three ways or available as a whole with an overall guide price of £2.215m.

The relatively easy-working fenland has previously been cropped with sugar beet, vining peas, winter wheat and barley, while the soil has benefited from a local muck-for-straw agreement for the past 20 years.
