VIDEO: EU young farmers on CAP reform
The European Council of Young Farmers has spoken of the need for CAP reform to establish policies that support new entrants establish themselves in the industry.
The future of European food production is in the hands of young European farmers, but they face many challenges, according to Joris Baecke, president of the European Council of Young Farmers.
Mr Baecke said that CEJA represented 2 million young entrepreneurs from across the EU and they were motivated, well-trained and keen to start farming.
“Their problem is actually to enter the sector. What we first should do, before we think about attracting any other young people, is to make sure that at least those 2m can start.”
