Missing farmworker found ‘safe and well’
Missing farmworker David Burgess has been found “safe and well”, his employer has confirmed.
Mr Burgess, 53, had been missing for five days after he left his home near Linford, Tilbury, in Essex, to go for a walk on Saturday (16 August).
Essex Police said his disappearance was out of character and they were becoming increasingly concerned about his welfare.
But on Thursday night, Mr Burgess was found safe and well, walking along a road between Langdon and Hordon-on-the-Hill.
His boss Jeremy Finnis, of Mill House Farm, West Tilbury, said he and co-workers were “very relieved” to learn that Mr Burgess had been found.
“Everyone on the farm has been looking for David and helping the police and doing all they can to find him,” said Mr Finnis.
“All the staff are very relieved that he has been found safe and well. There is quite a good feeling on the farm this morning.”

Mr Finnis said he would be meeting Mr Burgess on Friday morning (22 August) to discuss the reasons behind his disappearance, which were unknown.
“David has been working on the farm since he was 16 and his father did before him.
“He is quite a character – a bit of a prankster at times. If you have a sombre moment on the farm, he will always find something amusing to lift the spirits,” he added.
“But he’s also a very skilled worker in many ways, a useful man to have around.
“We are looking forward to seeing him back on the farm.”
