Last chance for young farmers to join NFU forum

Young farmers have just a few days left to apply to be part of the NFU’s new initiative, the Next Generation Forum.

The forum will bring together members from its teams in the UK and Brussels and give young farmers and growers the chance to give their input on key issues, such as CAP.

The forum will be made up of 16 young people from a range of farming and agricultural sectors, who will take up the post for a two-year fixed term period.

Successful applicants will be able to develop their personal, networking and business skills and get a thorough understanding of the NFU’s work.

Members of the forum will get the opportunity to travel to London and Brussels and attend meetings every quarter.

NFU Deputy President Gwyn Jones said: “In the last few months I have been travelling the country, speaking to the next generation of farmers. They are all passionate about farming, and only too aware of the challenges our industry faces in the coming years.

“That’s why the NFU next generation policy forum is so important. These young farmers are the future of both the industry and of course the NFU, and working with them now will ensure that the future of farming and its representation is in good hands.

“There is still time to apply, so, if you are thinking about it, and want to play an active role in the future of farming, get in touch.”

To apply visit the NFU website to download the application form no later than 2nd October 2011.
